The Western Area Power Administration (WAPA) is pleased to announce the Summer Internship Opportunities Program for 2024. We are seeking talented and motivated individuals to join our team and gain hands-on experience in the field of power administration. As an intern, you will have the opportunity to contribute to meaningful projects, learn from industry professionals, and play a role in advancing the nation's energy infrastructure.

Responsibilities
  • Assist in the planning and execution of power generation and transmission projects.
  • Conduct research and analysis on energy markets, policies, and regulations.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to support ongoing initiatives.
  • Participate in field visits and inspections to power facilities.
  • Support administrative tasks related to power administration programs and services.
Qualifications
  • Currently enrolled as an undergraduate or graduate student pursuing a degree in engineering, energy management, business, or a related field.
  • Strong academic performance and a genuine interest in the energy industry.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Detail-oriented with strong organizational and time-management abilities.
  • Eligibility to work in the United States.
Experience
  • Previous coursework or experience related to energy, power administration, or a related field is advantageous but not mandatory.
  • Familiarity with energy markets, policies, or regulations is a plus.
Skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Adaptability and a willingness to learn and contribute to a collaborative team environment.
  • Effective communication and presentation skills.
