Description

The Senate Internship Placements Program for 2024 provides a unique opportunity for students to engage with the legislative process and gain invaluable experience in the heart of government. Responsibilities
  • Collaborate with Senators and their staff on legislative research, constituent services, and policy analysis.
  • Support day-to-day office operations, including responding to inquiries, managing schedules, and assisting with event planning.
  • Participate in committee meetings, hearings, and briefings to deepen understanding of the legislative process.
  • Conduct research on current issues and proposed legislation.
  • Draft and edit communications, including press releases, reports, and correspondence.
  • Assist with outreach activities, constituent communications, and public engagement efforts.
Qualifications
  • Currently enrolled in an accredited undergraduate or graduate program.
  • Pursuing a degree in political science, public policy, law, or a related field.
  • Strong academic record and a genuine interest in public service and government affairs.
  • Excellent communication, writing, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to handle sensitive information with discretion and maintain confidentiality.
  • Demonstrated leadership through academic, extracurricular, or community involvement
Experience

While previous internship or political experience is beneficial, the Senate Internship Placements Program encourages applicants with diverse backgrounds and a passion for public service to apply.
