Description
The City of Midland is offering internship opportunities for students and recent graduates looking to gain hands-on experience in municipal government. Our internship program provides a unique opportunity to work on real-world projects, develop professional skills, and contribute to the community. Interns will be placed in various departments, including Public Works, Finance, Human Resources, Parks and Recreation, and more, based on their field of study and interests.
Responsibilities
- Assist with daily departmental operations and special projects.
- Conduct research and compile reports as needed.
- Support staff with administrative tasks and documentation.
- Attend meetings, trainings, and community engagement activities.
- Collaborate with team members to develop solutions for city initiatives.
- Perform other duties as assigned to gain comprehensive industry experience
Qualifications
- Current enrollment in or recent graduation from an accredited college or university.
- Studying or possessing a degree in Public Administration, Business, Finance, Engineering, Environmental Science, Communications, or a related field.
- Strong interest in public service and municipal operations.
Experience
- Previous internship or volunteer experience in a related field is preferred but not required.
- Experience with research, data analysis, or community engagement is a plus.
Skills
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and other relevant software.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills.
- Critical thinking and problem-solving abilities.
