The Department of Public Safety (DPS) is seeking enthusiastic and driven students to join our team as interns for the 2024 program. This internship program offers a unique opportunity to gain valuable experience in various aspects of public safety, while contributing to the important work we do in our community.
Responsibilities
- Assist with various departmental tasks depending on the specific placement, such as research, data analysis, administrative support, outreach and education initiatives, or project management.
- Learn from experienced professionals and gain hands-on experience in a fast-paced environment.
- Develop and enhance interpersonal, communication, and critical thinking skills.
- Contribute to a positive and collaborative work environment.
Qualifications
- Currently enrolled in an accredited undergraduate or graduate program.
- Minimum GPA of 3.0 (or equivalent).
- Strong interest in public safety, criminal justice, law enforcement, homeland security, or related fields (may vary based on specific placement).
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
Experience
- Prior volunteer or internship experience in a public safety related field is a plus (may vary based on specific placement).
