Illinois State Police is excited to announce the Summer Internship Program for 2024/2025, providing undergraduate students with a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience in law enforcement. As a Summer Intern, you will be an integral part of our dynamic team, contributing to various aspects of police operations, community engagement, and administrative functions.

Responsibilities
  • Assist in Criminal Investigations: Work closely with experienced officers in gathering and analyzing information related to criminal investigations.
  • Community Outreach: Engage with local communities to foster positive relationships and promote public safety awareness.
  • Administrative Support: Provide support in administrative tasks such as data entry, report generation, and document management.
  • Patrol Ride-Along: Gain firsthand experience by participating in patrol ride-alongs with seasoned officers.
  • Training Participation: Attend training sessions to enhance your understanding of law enforcement procedures and protocols.
  • Special Projects: Contribute to special projects and initiatives as assigned by the supervising officers.
Qualifications
  • Enrollment in an accredited undergraduate program: Pursuing a degree in Criminal Justice, Law Enforcement, Public Administration, or a related field.
  • Good Academic Standing: Maintain a minimum GPA of 3.0 or equivalent.
  • Communication Skills: Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Analytical Skills: Ability to analyze information critically and make sound judgments.
  • Ethical Standards: Uphold the highest standards of ethics and integrity.
Experience
  • Previous exposure to law enforcement through coursework or volunteer activities is a plus.
Skills
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Strong interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to handle sensitive information with discretion.
