The Mine Safety and Health Administration (MSHA) is pleased to offer internship opportunities for students in 2024. This program provides an enriching experience in the field of mine safety and health, contributing to MSHA's mission of ensuring the well-being of miners across the nation.
Responsibilities
- Assist in the enforcement of mine safety and health regulations.
- Collaborate with MSHA professionals on inspections and investigations.
- Conduct research and analysis on emerging issues in mine safety.
- Support the development and implementation of safety training programs.
- Provide administrative support and assist with day-to-day tasks as needed.
- Participate in mine visits and training exercises.
Qualifications
- Currently enrolled as a student in an accredited undergraduate or graduate program.
- Pursuing a degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Mining Engineering, or a related field.
- Strong academic record.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Detail-oriented with strong organizational abilities.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Understanding of mine safety regulations and practices is advantageous.
Experience
- Previous experience in mine safety, occupational health, or related fields is desirable but not mandatory.
- Familiarity with MSHA regulations and procedures is an advantage.
