Description
The National Park Service (NPS) Internship for Youth program offers a unique opportunity for young individuals (ages 16-25) to contribute to the preservation and protection of our nation's natural and cultural treasures. Interns will gain hands-on experience while working alongside passionate park rangers and other professionals in various park settings across the country.
Responsibilities
- Assist with park operations, such as visitor services, resource management, and education programs.
- Participate in conservation projects like trail maintenance, habitat restoration, and historical site preservation.
- Collect data and conduct research in collaboration with park staff.
- Develop public outreach materials and participate in educational events.
- Engage with park visitors and share your knowledge and enthusiasm for the outdoors.
Qualifications
- Be 16-25 years old at the time of application.
- Be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident.
- Demonstrate a strong interest in national parks and conservation.
- Possess excellent communication, teamwork, and problem-solving skills.
Experience
- Prior volunteer experience in a park setting or related field is a plus, but not required.
